Chrissie Hynde - Stockholm

Being a fan of the "Pretenders" i was sort of skeptical to hear what Chrissie Hynde solo debut was to sound like because in the past, there have been some artists who rocked out and later on sort of gave in to boring non memorable songs such as Bryan Adams and John Mellencamp. When I did actually hear the cd, i was surprisingly surprise how good it was. Chrissie Hynde's "Stockholm" is full of memorable melodies and cool retro vibes. The 1st single "Dark Sunglasses" melodies sort of reminds me somewhat of "Night in my veins" from the Pretenders 1994 cd. The songs are well crafted and written.overall it is an enjoyable and solid cd. I have always been a fan of Hyndes attitude drenched vocals as well and 30 plus years in the industry really has not affected her vocals."Down the wrong" which has guest Neal Young on guitar is another fave track which has some great lyrics and Youngs notable guitar sound is evident on that track. Hynde slows things down with a beautiful ballad with nylon guitars and organ . "Stockholm" is one of Hyndes best work since the 1994 record "Last of the Independents". Fans will be pleased.
